Composters
You'll need a composter to start with. Pick a sunny spot in your garden for your composter. You need to fill your composter with 1 part green (nitrogen rich) to 2 parts brown (carbon rich). Examples of green ingredients are yard waste, dead house plants, and most food scraps (such as coffee grounds, cooked food, dairy products, fruits and vegetables). Examples of brown ingradients are paper, cardboard, straw, hay, wood chips, dried leaves and grass. A handful of soil is also added along with these ingredients. After filling your composter, all you need to do is turn the composter (if you have a tumbler) or mix the compost mix (if you have a standing bin) once a week to aerate the compost mix. With the right ingredients, you can see fresh compost in as little as 2-3 weeks.
